In a Toxic World, Love One Another

The key to this topic is in Romans 12:10 (NIV), where Paul says, “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Now, I realize that it is hard to do, right? Especially when your brother is supporting that “socialist” or that “liar” or that “braggart”. It’s hard to wrap your head around the word “honor” when you can’t fathom their political leanings or beliefs. But that is precisely what God wants you to do. That is also why being a Christian is no walk in the park and why many people don’t do it on a regular basis. It’s hard to love and honor others above yourself. Yet, it’s the only way you can truly lead others to the Gospel. You can’t strong-arm them there.

What’s Your Message?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. There seems to be a legalism and politicization that is suffocating and masking the true Christian message. We see it on T.V. and in print and we hear it from the pulpits and from each other. A lot of us are stuck on stance and missing the main message entirely… the real reason for ANY season.

There is a temptation to speak of issues rather than Christ. We think that witnessing on the most recent “Hot Topic” is more relevant than witnessing to others about the Gospel. We can talk endlessly about abortion, marriage, and prayer in school, but we rarely have the direct conversation with others about the Gospel and the unequivocal truth of Christ and what it can ultimately mean to our eternal salvation.

God’s Disclosure

Unlike the disclosures found at the bottom of many business sites, God’s disclosure is all-inclusive and all-encompassing. He doesn’t speak legalese, rather he speaks love. At the time, his contemporaries were like my lawyers… there was a law and He needed to abide by it. Yet, here was a man who claimed to not just know and understand God, but actually be God. He was throwing out everything people had believed God deemed important and announcing the old era was done and a new day was dawning.

Choose Joy

According to “Theopedia,” joy is “a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence, and hope. It is something or someone that provides a source of happiness. It appears 88 times in the Old Testament in 22 books; 57 times in the New Testament in 18 […]

In a Toxic World, Love One Another

Is it just me, or is it getting a tad bit too toxic out there! No matter what news program you listen to, someone is pointing the finger, laying the blame, and calling names. It’s enough to drive you… well, hopefully to church! I believe that now is the time we need to embrace our […]
